Welcome to the Ackama family, Common Code!

We’re excited to announce Common Code has joined the Ackama family!

Founded in Melbourne in 2010 by Daryl Antony, a software developer who loved both technical solutions as well as like-minded communities – mostly related to Python.

Common Code has since grown to a 30-person tech consultancy, working on projects with large-scale brands including global renewable energy player Octopus Energy, Ikea, Kogan.com, and Cotton On. The Common Code team also has deep ties with the Melbourne start-up ecosystem.

Having built an admirable reputation in the community, the Common Code brand will continue to operate for the foreseeable future. Both management teams remain in place, and there are no immediate plans to change the teams’ structures, with an objective to continue growing the team towards 100 employees in 2023.

This acquisition is an exciting development, bringing two teams sharing the same ‘tech for good’ ethos together, with both companies specialising in using technology for positive societal outcomes.

The two companies have worked with numerous organisations on projects to help improve aspects of our society thanks to technology, including The Good Sports programme for the Alcohol and Drug Foundation, headspace (the National Youth Mental Health Foundation), the Victorian Women’s Trust, State Library Victoria, the Victorian Public Sector Commission, and the New Zealand Sign Language Dictionary, as well as initiatives for the Australian Government and the New Zealand Government.

It now means we have a team of over 60 people, leveraging and strengthening both companies’ expertise in product management, User Experience, cloud-native development and DevOps – all areas that are in strong demand from clients.

“We’ve found the perfect partner in Ackama,” says Daryl. “This is a partnership that is greater than either company could create on their own. As founder of Common Code I’m proud of the role we’ve played over the last decade and am excited for the role we’ll play in the future with Ackama. I particularly love the opportunity to further develop tech communities in other APAC ecosystem”
